Preparing for Your Cosmetic Surgery
Essential pre-operative tips to ensure a smooth surgery day and optimal recovery results.
Proper preparation is key to a successful cosmetic surgery experience and optimal results. Prof. Dr. Nazım Durak and his team provide comprehensive pre-operative guidance, but here are some essential tips to help you prepare.
In the weeks before surgery, stop smoking and avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements such as aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamin E, and fish oil. These can increase bleeding risk during and after surgery. Make sure to inform Dr. Durak about all medications and supplements you're taking.
Prepare your home for recovery by setting up a comfortable rest area with extra pillows, easy-to-reach necessities, and prepared meals. Arrange for someone to drive you home after surgery and stay with you for at least the first 24 hours.
On the day of surgery, follow all fasting instructions carefully — typically no food or drink after midnight. Wear loose, comfortable clothing that doesn't need to be pulled over your head. Remove all jewelry, nail polish, and makeup before arriving at the clinic.
Mental preparation is equally important. Having realistic expectations and a positive mindset contributes significantly to a smooth recovery. Dr. Durak encourages patients to ask questions and voice any concerns during their pre-operative consultation.
